IAS Gerald Kliman Award

The 2018 recipient of the IEEE Industry Applications Society Gerald Kliman Award is Dr. Fei “Fred” Wang.  Dr. Wang is a professor and Condra Chair of Excellence in Power Electronics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is a founding member and serves as the Technical Director of the NSF-DOE Engineering Research Center CURENT. He also holds a joint position in Oak Ridge National Lab and. His experience also includes 8 years as an associate professor and the Technical Director at the Center for Power Electronics Systems, Virginia Tech, and 10 years as an engineer and R&D manager at General Electric. His research interests include WBG power electronics, and power electronics applications in electrified transportation, renewable energy systems and electric grid. Dr. Wang is a fellow of the IEEE and fellow of U.S. National Academy of Inventors.
