Special Issue Proposals

Anyone who is interested in creating a special issue with JESTPE should view the list of previously published special issues and JESTPE’s official scope to determine if their proposal would be unique and within the scope of JESTPE. More information about JESTPE special issues can be found in the guidelines below.

When creating a proposal, please use the following files as templates when proposing the special issue:

When completed, please send them to the Deputy Editor in Chief Fernando Briz for consideration. The proposers will then be notified if their special issue proposal is accepted or rejected. If accepted, the guest editors of the special issue will process the submissions in ScholarOne Manuscripts/Manuscript Central. Once all of the submissions are finalized, the guest editors will receive additional information, including guidance on writing a guest editorial for the special issue.

Information for Authors

Information on paper submission (e.g., correct formats, file types, etc.) can be found in JESTPE’s submission guidelines. All submissions should be in a double-column format. The correct template can be found in the IEEE Template Selector.  Authors should pay particular attention to documenting their work in relation to the known literature. For more information concerning tools and assistance with article preparation and submission, the proof review process, and ordering reprints, please visit the IEEE Author Center.

The articles in JESTPE are peer-reviewed in accordance with the requirements set forth in the IEEE PSPB Operations Manual (sections 8.2.1.C & 8.2.2.A).  Each published article was reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers using a single-anonymous peer-review process, where the identities of the reviewers are not known to the authors, but the reviewers know the identities of the authors.  Articles will be screened for plagiarism before acceptance.

Open Access (OA)

This publication is a hybrid journal, allowing either traditional manuscript submission or OA manuscript submission. Upon submission, if you choose to have your manuscript be an OA article, you commit to pay the discounted USD$1,850.00 OA fee if your manuscript is accepted for publication in order to enable unrestricted public access. Any other application charges (such as over-length page charge and/or charge for the use of color in the print format) will be billed separately once the manuscript formatting is complete but prior to the publication. If you would like your manuscript to be a traditional submission, your article will be available to qualified subscribers and purchasers via IEEE Xplore. No OA payment is required for traditional submission.

Page Charges

Regular papers published in the JESTPE should normally be eight or fewer pages. Letter papers should plan for three pages or fewer. For regular papers, pages nine and above will incur an excess page charge of USD$162.00 per page. For letter papers, pages five and above will incur this page charge. After the final paper has been submitted, the JESTPE Editor will estimate the length of the final paper using the formula given above and will notify the author of the potential for excess page charges. Authors must commit to paying excess page charges before the paper is sent to the IEEE for publication. After production of the final paper by IEEE and prior to final publication, the IEEE will send “galley proofs” to the author for final editing. Page charges will be assessed at this time.
