Petros Karamanakos has been appointed as the new Deputy Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Open Journal of Industry Applications (OJ-IA) for a 4-year term (July 2026 – June 2030). Congratulations!
Petros Karamanakos (Senior Member, IEEE) received the diploma and Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Athens, Greece, in 2007, and 2013, respectively. From 2010 to 2011, he was with the ABB Corporate Research Center, Baden-Dättwil, Switzerland, where he worked on model predictive control strategies for medium-voltage drives. From 2013 to 2016, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate with the Chair of Electrical Drive Systems and Power Electronics, Technische Universität München, Munich, Germany. Since 2016, he has been with the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences, Tampere University, Tampere, Finland, where he is currently an Associate Professor. His research interests include the intersection of power electronics, optimal control, mathematical programming, and computational methods, including model predictive control and optimal modulation for utility-scale power converters and AC variable speed drives. Dr. Karamanakos was the recipient of the three IEEE journal paper awards and five prize paper awards at IEEE conferences.
