A catalyst for real-world technology solutions to improve quality of life in local communities.
IEEE IAS and IEEE Humanitarian Technologies are partnering to offer the Impact in Action program to provide grants of up to US$10,000 for IAS members to implement real-world technology solutions that improve quality of life in their local communities. Teams must submit project proposals that apply IAS technologies to an opportunity they see in the world around them to contribute to sustainable development.
IEEE IAS Impact in Action invites proposals that focus on one of the following Technology Impact Areas represented by a UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). The starting point for a project should always be what the community has shared as a need, rather than a particular technology that needs to find a use.
- Technology to facilitate and promote education (SDG 4: Quality Education)
- Clean Energy and Sustainable Power (SDG 7: Affordable & Clean Energy)
- Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Digital Connectivity (SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure)
- Technological solutions for sustainable transportation, road safety, air quality, or waste management (SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities)
Funding Specifications
Amount of Funding: Project grants will be between US$5,000 and US$10,000 per project.
Term of Funding: Project implementation plans may be up to one year following the project start date.
Eligibility to Apply
- Each team may submit only one proposal.
- The primary applicant must be an IEEE Professional member or higher and an active IAS member in good standing. Student members may be secondary applicants.
- Project teams that received Tech4Good funding in the past may apply if the project has been completed and all reporting requirements fulfilled.

The application form may be found on the Online Funding Opportunities Portal starting 20 July 2026. Applications must be submitted by the deadline of 31 August 2026 and will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Interested teams are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible.
