The IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Students & Young Professionals (SYP) Affinity Group is a global community dedicated to supporting students and early-career engineers as they transition from academia to industry and become future leaders within IEEE IAS.
The committee serves as a bridge between students, young professionals, academia, and industry by creating opportunities for technical learning, professional development, leadership, and global networking.
Through conferences, workshops, mentoring, volunteer engagement, and collaborative initiatives, IAS SYP empowers members to build meaningful careers, expand their professional networks, and actively contribute to the advancement of industry applications engineering.

What We Do
Our activities focus on five key pillars:
Professional Development
Organizing career development sessions, technical workshops, industry panels, and seminars that prepare members for successful engineering careers.
Networking & Community Building
Creating opportunities for students and young professionals to connect with peers, experienced engineers, researchers, and industry leaders through networking receptions, interactive sessions, and conference activities.
Leadership Development
Encouraging members to become active IEEE volunteers by providing leadership opportunities within IAS chapters, conferences, and global committees.
Mentorship
Connecting students and early-career professionals with experienced IEEE volunteers and industry experts who provide guidance on career development, technical growth, and professional success.
Student & Conference Engagement
Supporting student branches, IAS chapters, and conference activities through Young Professional events, competitions, volunteer programs, and collaborative initiatives that strengthen member involvement worldwide.
