IAS InterSociety Distinguished Lecturer Program
The IAS InterSociety Distinguished Lecturer (DL) Program is administered through the Chapters & Membership Department and provides IAS Chapters and IEEE Sections access to distinguished lecturers from the Industrial Electronics Society (IES), Power Electronics Society (PELS) and the Power Engineering Society (PES).
The program was started in 2000 through an inter-society cooperation agreement
between IAS, IES, PELS & PES. IAS Chapters benefit by having access to a larger selection of distinguished lecturers from societies with similar technical interests.
Information on the IES/PELS/PES DL programs including a listing of DL's and topics can be found at:

How it Works
Each Society has agreed to fund the DL from their Society when speaking to Chapters/Sections of their own Society. IAS Chapters should contact the appropriate DL Program Chair when utilizing this program.

IAS Distinguished Lecturer Program Guidelines
What the Chapter/Section DoesÂ
The chapter/section requesting the distinguished lecturer (DL) provides full accommodations for the lecturer for a few day(s) and night(s) lodging. Full accommodations consist of lodging, meals, local transportation (rental or personal auto), and miscellaneous expenses (audio visual equipment, photo copying, telephone charges, etc.). The requesting chapter/section is required to coordinate with the speaker directly and obtain mutual agreement for all transportation, accommodations and presentation.
The chapter/section should make preliminary arrangements directly with the DL through introductory correspondence describing their program and dates. The correspondence should ask the DL to return particular information back to the program committee chair regarding program, dates required, etc. to be used in processing a request. Finally a formal invitation should be sent to the DL and a copy to the DL Program Chair.Â
What the Lecturer DoesÂ
The Distinguished Lecturer prepares and provides all lecture materials. The DL offers his or her services as mutually agreed at a sanctioned IAS meeting lasting up to three hours at no extra cost to the Chapters/Section. The DL seeks final approval from the DL Program Chair once dates and venues have been finalized with the hosts. After the lecture, the DL completes an IEEE travel claim form and submits this to the IAS Treasurer together with necessary supporting documents.Â
Changes to Format / ItineraryÂ
By mutual agreement between the requesting Chapter/Section and the DL, the transportation, accommodation, and presentation time may be changed to suit the needs of both parties. The DL Program Chair and The Chapters & Membership Department Chair must be informed of any changes to the DL’s itinerary.
